Join renowned photographer Michele Thompson, also known as @magpie_n_moo, for an exclusive webinar on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. In this session, Michele will share her personal process for planning and executing spectacular moon and sun alignments. She’ll provide an in-depth look at how she uses essential photography planning apps like PhotoPills and Planit Pro to plot alignments and ensure she’s in the perfect position to capture breathtaking shots.

This webinar is a unique opportunity to learn directly from Michele, an accomplished photographer who will guide you step by step.  She will walk you through her process from scouting locations, to using app features for precise moon or sun alignment planning to the camera settings she relies on when capturing that perfect alignment moment.  Whether you’re an experienced photographer or a newcomer eager to start your alignment journey, this workshop will give you the practical knowledge you need. The event will be held on Zoom, and the meeting link will be emailed to all registered guests the day before the event.

Bonus: After the webinar, you’ll receive access to additional resources, including step-by-step videos and documentation,  that Michele has put together to support your learning. These materials are designed to help you review the key points at your own pace and give you extra guidance as you continue practicing alignments.

Continue your learning journey with a free, hands-on Moon Alignment Meet-up on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

This in-person event, is a chance to apply the skills you learned in the webinar and capture a real-time moon alignment. The moon alignment is scheduled for 7:39 PM, and participants should plan to arrive an hour early to set up and prepare.

The meet-up location will be in Toronto, with the exact spot to be announced during the preceding webinar. This free gathering is the perfect opportunity to practice your long-exposure and alignment techniques with fellow enthusiasts. It’s a supportive environment where you can ask questions, share tips, and experience the thrill of capturing a planned celestial event. Don’t forget your camera, a tripod, and a passion for night photography!
