In Search of Cherry Blossoms: Toronto Photo Walk with Eric Newcombe
It’s Cherry Blossom Season!
Diving into the brief but bountiful blooms of late April / early May in Toronto. Please respect the trees and enjoy their natural beauty with your eyes and cameras.
In this series: beautiful delicate flowers captured by Toronto photographer Eric Newcombe
In this post we present a series of lovely images of the cherry blossoms by GTA photographer Eric Newcombe. Please give the artist a follow on Instagram: @newcombes_adventures.
Three sweet Toronto cherry blossom locations:
- Trinity Bellwoods
- University of Toronto
- Centennial Park
Trinity Bellwoods – Queen St. West
Trinity Bellwoods is blessed with a great downtown location off Queen St. West and a few southern perspectives that include the iconic CN Tower. You can even catch the streetcar zipping through the bottom of your frame.

These pics reflect the ultimate natural colour treatment. The photographer restrains themselves from over saturation or intense contrast. At left, an older man enjoying the blooms with a perfect complementary colour jacket. At right, a glimpse of a TTC streetcar beyond the trees. A hint of light on the front and subtle red popping through.
Robarts Library at University of Toronto
The lovely library on Harbord St at St. George is a great spot for snapping cherry blossoms and the onlookers who flock to this beautiful part o the U of T campus.

Centennial Park in Etobicoke
I took too many regular blossom shots Monday so decided to get abstract with it at Taku Kumabe aka @smaku ‘s @nikoncanada photo walk in Etobicoke’s Centennial Park.

Please respect the trees!
If you’re going to take one thing from this article / post – look with your eyes and camera, don’t touch the trees.
While it may be tempting to pull a branch down for an Instagram shot, or pluck a petal to bring home – please don’t. While you may think its harmless to do this, think what happens if every single person who went to appreciate the cherry blossoms did this. There would be no more trees left for everyone to appreciate. The city of Toronto has a great guide about what and what not to do (https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/festivals-events/cherry-blossoms/?WT.rd_id=%2Fcherryblossoms).
Please make sure to clean up any trash you bring with you, and leave the area better than how you found it. I would like for my grandchildren to experience the same joy that you no doubt are feeling during such a special time with the flowers blooming.
